With the purpose of contributing to and supporting the educational development of the student community, the Superintendency of Banks of Panama (SBP) donated a 15-person capacity minibus to Centro Educativo Multigrado Las Zanguengas located in La Chorrera, Panamá Oeste.
The Secretary-General, Michelle Arango, awarded the vehicle’s key to the school principal, Ms. Leni Pérez Núñez.
During the ceremony, Ms. Arango remarked, “This minibus will provide the students the opportunity to have transportation not only for field trips. This bus will also provide transportation to three schools in the area when needed. This transportation will facilitate the children’s access to education.”
The ceremony was attended by Enrique Bernal Caballero, Regional Director of the Ministry of Education; representatives from CEM Las Zanguengas and the student corps; and SBP volunteers.
As part of the Institutional Volunteering Program projects, this educational center has been assisted since 2023 as a social, educational, and environmental sustainability project, with tools and advice to stimulate financial development and knowledge of children, faculty, and families. In addition, a school garden was created, and a poultry yard was prepared, which students and teachers have taken advantage of to grow and raise birds for consumption and sale.
