Starting today, Villa de los Santos and its surrounding towns will be visited by a team from the Superintendency of Banks of Panama (SBP) that will be participating with the “Tu Balboa Con Sentido” stand in the 58th edition of the Azuero International Fair (FIA, for its acronym in Spanish), as part of the initiative that seeks to strengthen free financial education nationwide.
“The objective of our participation in fair events is to promote financial education, which is key to social and economic development, since it has a positive effect on people’s and family’s well-being and is a bridge to facilitate reduction of poverty and inequality,” remarked the Superintendent of Banks, Amauri A. Castillo, during the inauguration of the stand.
Superintendent Castillo, on behalf of the SBP, the entity that leads the National Strategy for Financial Education (ENEF, for its acronym in Spanish), cut the ribbon to officially inaugurate the “Tu Balboa Con Sentido“ stand located in Edificio Canajagua, first floor, suite 1PA-02
During the fair, workshops on savings, budget and credit and the “free” online course on Financial Education called “Better decisions starting today” will be offered to visitors.
At the same time, different schools in the region will be visited, with the purpose to promote, among the educational community, the knowledge and basic tools that will help them make good use of money, the budget, and the importance of keeping their personal finances healthy.
With these actions, the SBP, along with Sparkassenstiftung Alemana Latinoamérica y el Caribe, reaffirms its commitment to continue strengthening the financial knowledge of citizens, which will allow them to establish appropriate behaviors that will help them make more accurate decisions about their personal finances. These behaviors are essential to have a favorable impact on the economy and, thereby, raise the country’s financial culture.
