To raise awareness about the rational and efficient use of energy, both in the institution and at home, the Superintendency of Banks of Panama (SBP) held a training addressed to its employees.
The workshop called “Rational and Efficient Use of Energy in our home and in the SBP” was provided by Dr. Yovani Barría, Project Coordinator of the National Energy Secretariat (SNE, for its acronym in Spanish), and led by the Energy Administrator of the Energy Saving Committee of the Superintendency of Banks, Eng. José Janeiro.
Dr. Barría stressed on the importance of conducting an energy audit, both in our homes as in our workplace, which will allow us to know the energy saving opportunities and to apply changes in the short-, medium-, and long-term. He also shared a list of energy saving measures that can be implemented in hour homes and offices.
The SBP Energy Saving Committee has, as its main objective, establishing general and specific guidelines framed in rational and efficient energy saving strategies, facilitating the application of policies, techniques, indicators, and technologies focused on achieving significant economic savings in energy consumption.”
It is noteworthy that the measures adopted by the institution showed a decrease of B/.5,118.09 in the electricity bill, which shows an energy saving of 6% in kWh (kilowatt hour) in 2019 versus 2018. This decrease goes hand in hand with the significant changes made by the institution, prior to lockdown, such as, changes in consumption habits, use of efficient technology and a combination of both.
The continued implementation of these measures will allow the SBP to contribute to government energy saving measures and environmental protection.
