The Superintendent of Banks, Amauri A. Castillo, received a courtesy visit from Mr. Gerd Weissbach, Director General for Sparkassenstiftung Alemana Latinoamérica.
The visit was intended to know the advances that have been made in financial education, as well as to review and define the key steps to follow in connection with the technical cooperation agreement between both entities.
Since 2016, Sparkassenstiftung Alemana Latinoamérica has been offering technical assistance to the Superintendency of Banks for the promotion of financial education, as an instrument that allows people to improve their understanding of financial products, concepts, and risks, through information, teaching or advice.
The technical support provided by the nonprofit organization for international cooperation has been fundamental in the initiative to implement the National Strategy for Financial Education and the “Tu Balboa con Sentido” website, which includes the free online course “Better decisions starting today.”
This initiative is aimed at raising the country’s financial culture, helping to establish appropriate behaviors that will allow citizens to make the best decisions, especially when facing different situations or purchasing any product or service offered by the financial sector.
