The Minister of Economy and Finance, Héctor Alexander, presided over the swearing-in and taking office ceremony of María de Lourdes Marengo as a new member of the Board of Directors of the Superintendency of Banks of Panama.
Marengo expressed optimism regarding her contribution to the maintenance and growth of the banking sector, leveraging her vast experience in the legal and financial field. She stated, “I hope to make significant contributions to the SBP Board of Directors for the maintenance and growth of the banking sector.”
Ms. Marengo also emphasized the importance of maintaining Panama’s position as a reliable and growing banking center, highlighting that the challenges that lie ahead are crucial to achieving this goal.
The Superintendent of Banks, Amauri A. Castillo, highlighted the significance of this appointment due to Ms. Marengo’s extensive experience spanning over three decades. This appointment fulfils the commitment to include women on governmental boards of directors.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Orcila de Constable, and the directors of Public Financing and Public Policies, Julio Marquínez and Hernán Arboleda, respectively.
